Pharrell Williams, artist and producer with great hits like ‘happy’, ‘get lucky’ and blurred lines. He always seems to smile and has enough reason to. It looks like everything he touches, turns into gold. We may ask, is there anything Pharrell Williams can’t do?
Last week, Humberto Tan invited Pharrell for his show RTL late night at the Dutch television. Before he gave a concert at the Ziggodome, they discussed his whole carrier and why he became so successful. His new project with the Dutch label G-star Raw could not remain undiscussed. G-star Raw announced during the New York Fashion Week that they were going to join hands with Pharrell Williams.
Why they work together?
Why would they work together? Pharrell is not only a musician. He also owns a successful eco-minded company Bionic Yarn, which develops yarn from recycled plastic. Bionic Yarn and G-star Raw created the collection and Pharrell is the face of the campaign. It seems like they were made for each other, G-star is an edgy, young label while Pharrell never seems to get any older. Also both seem to care about the earth and our nature.
What is the idea?
The idea is eco-friendly fashion that is made from plastic that was dumped into world’s oceans. Sometimes the ocean is only filled with plastic, you cannot even see the bottom. Just like Pharrell said: “ We have created denim’s next generation and wear responsibility for the big blue”. The collection includes many items for women and men, like jeans, jackets and hats and is available from the 15th of August at selected G-star stores.
Why it is a perfect solution?
Clothes made of plastic; it could be the perfect solution to pollution of the oceans. We just need to take care of our nature. So this might be a new step to taking that responsibility for our earth.
