'Uit je eigen stad'

Rotterdam is seen as an industrial city with a lot of architecture, but also as a food walhalla. The food market is one of them. Between these big buildings, there are also green projects. Uit je eigen stad is one of these.

Last December they started with something new; the aquaponicsystem. They produced immediately on a large scale, the biggest one of Europe. Aquaponic is a system, which can let fish and plants grow in one. The farm has also a restaurant, where you can taste their homemade products and i also did. I ordered a fresh mint tee with brownie. In my opinion one of the best brownies i ever taste. Within the restaurant they have a little shop, where they also sell homemade products. Like watermelon ice cream, mustard and fresh vegetables.

Why is it cool?

Uit je eigen tuin is a perfect example of transparency. It shows us where our food comes from. If you look through the window, you see chicken and a lot of green. The restaurant also gives the costumer a place, where they can really taste biological. The lettuce leaf on your plate really grew up at this place.
