The world of fastfood seems to be the one, which never changes. We always knew that fastfood wasn’t healthy. Eventhough it looks like we trying to get more healty. Fastfood seems to be one of the exceptions. The big mac burger from Macdonalds is nowadays seen as not so tasty burger. Mainly young people seem not so interested in Macdonalds anymore, as the previous generation. Just because our world becomes more and more transparant. We know better what our food excist of. That’s why the fresh burger was introduced by a lot of restaurants. We needed a new, fresh and original item. From a big mac burger to a culinair and fresh burger. A trick that also can be applied to other snacks, like fries. That’s why a new trend seems to be born. Welcome to the world of Haute Friture.
Snackbars which are filled with TL-light and pack their fries in plastic trays, seem to be the standard. That’s why the new trend Haute Friture seems to be a special one. Handcraft, fair products and pure. That’s what the contemporary guest wants. It must be a bit healty and of course safe. It is expected of food companies that they have social responsibility.
A few weeks ago, I went to Rotterdam. The bruising city is slowly being filled with the ‘Haute Friture’ trend. For example ‘Pommes’ where you can buy handmade frites. The building, which is located close to the Koopgoot, is totally made from glass. That day, I also went to the ‘Markthal’. After a while I also spotted a restaurant / snackbar, which perfect fit in the ‘Haute friture’. Fresh frites, homemade ketchup and hamburgers. The restaurant was perfect designed and filled with happy people.

Why is it cool?
The current consumer wants to know, where their food comes from. The fast food world, never has been open about what their food is made of. But everything gets more and more transparent. That's why fast food seems to be the one, which need to change. That’s why Haute Friture became populair. It’s a world with culinary hotdogs and fries, awareness for nature and quality for the product, also named: ‘fast good’. The phenomenon spread especially in Rotterdam and Amsterdam. Snackbars transform in chic restaurants. With designer lamps, wooden floors, handmade fries and biological mayonaise.
